With the Digimeter project gathers and shares data and information regarding the Flemish media and ICT user on a systematic and annual basis, adopting a representative methodology. This provides the iMinds researchers with reliable statistics regarding the adoption and diffusion of (new) media and ICT and developing trends, habits and practices. Through its annual frequency, Digimeter also serves as a monitor that can detect and keep track of emerging trends and practices.

By carrying out survey on a yearly basis, the project allows researchers to build and refresh a database containing detailed user profiles of end-users that agree to be involved in further innovation and user research. This user database is available for SME’s, organizations and companies for research in collaboration with iMinds-iLab.o. The management of this Digimeter user panel is taken care of by the panel management staff of iLab.o.

After every Digimeter wave, the survey itself and the data gathering is subjected to critical analysis and academic reflection in order to optimize and actualize each next wave. For the first year, iLab.o has collaborated with thematic experts for the analysis and presentation of the Digimeter4-data and for the construction of the next wave.
